Bundamba Memorial Park Dedication August 2006

The unveilling of a plaque ceremony
dedicated to the16th Minesweeping
Squadron service in the R.A.N from
1960 to 1990 at the Bundamba
Memorial Park funded by the the
Bundamba Sub Section of the Naval
Association of Australia.
The Officer unveiling the plaque is
Commander Bob Plath ADC RAN
Naval Officer Commanding
Queensland Southern Command.
He had also served on board HMAS
Curlew 1987 to 1989.
Curly Marshall came over from
Western Australia & Tom (Shorty)
Edwards came up from South
Australia to be a part of this ceremony.
After the ceremony we went back to
the Goodna R.S.L. For a convivial
afternoon which was enjoyed by all
who attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was M'cd by the
president of the Bundamba Sub
Section Mr Ron (Nullabor) Baker. Ron
is a Sweeper man from the
Confrontation period & his offsider,
the late, Allan (Spike) Jones worked
tirelessly before,during, & after the
ceremony.
