29th July 2009
Fred Goddard has kindly shared some photos of HMAS Teal with us, and Len
Rodgers has some he will be sharing as well soon.
Jacquie Clarey is still waiting to hear from Canberra about the new crest
design so we will look forward to that news and meanwhile sometime ago I
asked Rod Clarey why during the Vietnam war the Minesweepers were not
again in action... here is his reply...
"...from what I can remember because of the work we did in Confrontation the
yanks wanted us in Vietnam but some shiny arse desk jockey in Navy Office
Canberra reckoned it would be too dangerous(FOR WHO??) to have the
Birds in Vietnam. Plus while we flew the RN White Ensign the Poms had a
say in the deployment of the Birds. But for a more precise answer we would
have to check with Seapower in Canberra."
So if anyone else has anything to add to that let me know so we can share it!

The New Crest is now made. It has to be sanctioned by the Chief of the RAN
before it can be used. However if you have access to the Multiply group you
may view the draft copy of  it there.
Thank you.

Hi All,

Here is a link to the latest video clip I just put on youtube. I have
also added an entry in the FESR website forum with a link to it. It is a
short video clip of several photo's of Jenny BEM.  The reason for doing
it was due to several requests to supply photo's and this is the easiest
way to achieve that.

Happy New Year to you all and I hope you enjoy the short clip.

cheers
Les Sheehan

It is the 55th Anniversary of the FESR Navy Association on 2 July
next and we will be conducting a commemoration service at the
Shrine on Sunday 4 July commencing at 1300hrs.

Would you see if any of your members would like to join with us on
this significant day.

We are to be supported by the PWLH Regimental Band.

After the service we will be having refreshments in the Shrine
function room.

I will be sending out a formal program and invitation at a later date,
this is just to get the ball rolling.

Regards
Les Bailey
